The BBC reported in the news today http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11516189  that excessive interest rates charged by credit card companies are to be considered as part of a review.

Credit card interest rate charges are exceedingly high, and making any in roads into the debt, is at times impossible, repayments are used to cover the interest instead of reducing the debt.

Any reduction to the interest rate charged will for some mean they will be able to start repaying the debt. Always supposing they don’t make a late payment, which then triggers a £12.00 fee.

Even when arrangements are in place due to financial problems, credit card companies continue to charge fees and interest.  How do they expect to help someone clear their debts if more interest and fees continue to be added to the balance?
